The Israelites, God's Provision, and 2009: "The year of coffee"
04.9.2009
Why do I do what I do? I woke up this morning in a complete haze. The band just finished 16 shows in 19 days… 7 of those days we were up and singing on the radio by 7:30am and then playing shows at night. At the moment I am on an airplane sitting next to my son who is playing his leapster….and as tired as I am (I’ve dozed off several sometimes, but that’s not the point. I’m so thankful for this last run, because once again God showed up and allowed me to sing more times in a period of 19 days than I had ever done before, and we RAN through the finish line.
The last show was in Tuscon, AZ last night, and when I walked into the venue I had this weird thought of the Israelites. I didn’t know why I was thinking about them, but something that I had always laughed about was on my mind. The question that has always amused me is: “How many times does it really take for people who have seen the Red Sea part, and watched God provide Manna from heaven, and water from a rock, to believe that GOD is ALWAYS FAITHFUL?! Every time I read the story of the Israelites, I laugh at them…. And yesterday that was exactly what I was thinking about for some strange reason when I woke up. I even had a conversation with a new friend named Stan about this very thing. This morning when I woke up I finally put the pieces together. God basically said “ Jason, you are JUST LIKE THE ISRAELITES. You keep doubting my ability to use you and your weaknesses for my glory. You keep doubting even though, you’ve spent 10 years on the road without ever cancelling a show…. Even at your sickest I have used you for my glory. Even when you couldn’t speak I have been your voice. I don’t know where I’m going with this at all, but what I will say is that though ALL of us were tired… we made it.
The band is getting a much needed week off, and now as I am on a plane with my family heading home I have a feeling of peace that I can’t explain. Somehow God is using me and this band for His Glory. He’s using my family to remind me of who He is and how blessed I truly am. And while sometimes I forget the reason that I do this, today, for this moment it is abundantly clear… I do this for the Glory of a God who has been and always will be faithful. I hope you’ll take a moment right now and remember who our God is….. think back on the provision the Lord has shown you, and remember He will be faithful to complete the good work He began in you!!
Touring isn’t even close to over either so make sure you get your youth group ready for Summerfest this summer featuring 33Miles, and of course we’ll be headlining again!! Only $5 at the door… so you’ve got to be there. And in other breaking news, we’re going to Canada to headline a World Vision tour this summer. 15 dates in “Eh” country… sawweeet!! Uganda, and Rwanda after that, and then “The Promise Remains Tour” co-headlined with our buddy Todd Agnew in the fall. So sleep well while you can people, it’s gonna be the year of coffee for us (Mountain Dew and Red Bull for the crew, lol)… and we expect you to be there with us!!!!!!!
Love, Love, Love,
JRoy!!!
