Wow what a TOUR!!!
08.31.2009
Wow what a TOUR!!! Man Canada has been fun. We learned a lot about the north and a lot about what they think about the south. For instance did you know that all US citizens are called Americans… which is weird to me because Canada and the US are both in North America… so shouldn’t we all be called Americans??? Here’s another interesting “tidbit”….. Did you know that all “Americans” are called Yankees up here??? I told them that I’d double dog dare them to go down to Texas and call anyone a Yankee. Shotguns would come flying out!!! Here’s another one did you know that donut holes are called “tidbits” up here or depending on where you are they are called “Timbits”. Why, well because up here Starbucks is NOT the biggest coffee chain… no sir Tim Horton’s is the biggest chain… and they are open 24 hours a day and they are chalk full of Blueberry donuts and they are amazing!!! Not to mention that the coffee ain’t half bad either. Here’s another interesting bit of information… Downhere’s is actually from up here so what the heck does the name mean anyway???
OK all joking aside it’s been awesome to get to know these guys a little better over the last few weeks. Honestly they are some of the most humble and genuine guys I’ve ever met and I am now truly a fan!! This is the first tour that I’ve done in almost 5 years without my road manager and friend Brian Coleman and that made this one completely different in every way. Brian needed to get home to spend some time with his family and gear up for the Promise Remains tour so we told him to go relax so he’d be ready for the 43 tour dates this fall. That definitely made this tour harder on everyone… most days I became part of the crew again… setting up and tearing down, rebuilding PA and remembering what it was like before the bus and the amazing crew that we have today. Praise God that Brian is coming back soon. But I need to say this…. All our crew stepped up in a HUGE way and once again I am proud of every single one of them.
This is also the first tour that I’ve done in 2 years without my wife and my children on the bus and I’ve got to be perfectly honest…. It stunk. I thought that I’d be able to relax and hang with the guys and enjoy a little hang out time on the road but instead what I found was that I spent every single minute missing my family. REALLY…. Every cool thing that I’ve seen in Canada was something that was followed by this thought. “Man I wish Cortni could see this.” My son is now in home school for the first year and we’ve found that we can do geography lessons through skype and this whole screen sharing thing.. and that’s been cool. I’m always saying “Ok Avery look at the map… now the letter A is where daddy is in Saskatchewan, and the letter B is in Clarksville. “ Then we would spend the next few minutes going over the route back to Clarksville and connecting his road memories with the cities that he has been in with me before. Kind of cool but to be honest the skype thing can be VERY frustrating too, so I can’t wait to get him back on the road with me. My little Haven has been such a sweetheart on the phone… I can tell that she’s missing her daddy by her voice it gets all shaky when she tells me she misses me and that actually hurts. Hard to explain why but honestly it hurts in a way that is indescribable. The guys even seem to be missing the family a little bit to which really makes me feel a lot better and makes me look to the PR tour for a bit of normalcy again.
Here’s the good new though folks: I’m going on vacation the day that I get home. That’s right I’ve already been imagining the place in the ocean that I’m going to throw my cell phone into!!!! I’m finally going to get my family back to Wilmington, NC and we’re so excited about it. My families boat is running again and the islands are calling my name…. so any of you Wilmintonians that want to hang out…. I’ll see you on Masonborough island!!! My wife and I are so excited to get the kids back to the beach and of course to see old friends like Mattblair.com . I’ll have to fly out to a show in Oklahoma one day, but other than that it’s going to be a BEAUTIFUL thing!!!! That’s obviously Michael’s side of the world… he lives about an hour from there in Morehead City so we’ll try to catch up to Him and his wife Hannah while we’re there too!! I think it’s going to be awesome.
Sorry vacation is on the brain, but here’s the coolest news of all. Todd Agnew, BUILDING429 on tour together this fall for 43 dates all across the country. Tickets are on sale NOW and people we have revisioned the whole set so get ready we’re going to have a PARTY on the road!!!!
That’s enough babbling for today!!!
Blessings,
Jason

Hey guys, we absolutely loved having B429 up here. Thanks again so much for coming. I know exactly how you're feeling Jason being away from your family for so long.
Thanks for making those sacrifices and bringing us such a great ministry.
We really appreciated having you!
Oh and great news, Tim Horton's is now opening up its chain in the US..........it's comin'.
God Bless, all the best to you and the families!
Roberto - Tornoto, Canada
I'm so excited that you guys are working with Brody Harper and Skorinc! They're good people.
I've enjoyed following you tweets (and seeing who is beating who in basketball.) I hope I get to make it to one of your upcoming shows.
Dear Jason, Michael and Jesse,
I just want to say that I really like your new website. I am glad that you have a blog now. Praying that your last show goes well and that you have a safe trip home. I feel very honored to have met you on Friday night in Edmonton. Your ministry has blessed me in so many ways. I was the one who gave you the letters, my prayer is that the words that I wrote to you blessed you. I asked the Lord for the words to write to each one of you. Please return to Canada again some day. Jason enjoy your holidays with your family. You will continue to be in my prayers. Take care and God bless you all. Love Marjan VandenBrink
It's posts like this that make me wish I were a Canadian :-) Downhere is my favorite band and you guys are great too, and it's been forever since I've seen you in concert... the last time was a very very rainy show in Swartz Creek, Michigan. I guess I'm a bit jealous that all those fabulous Canadians got to rock out with you and I didn't. Oh well... perhaps I'll get to catch a show with you and Todd Agnew. God bless!
Hey man, have you ever thought about having holliday in Brazil?Great beaches, sun and peace.
I and my friends are waiting for Building 429 here.
Please, right now!
We love you guys, your oficial fan clube here!
God bless you!
