I’m loving having Brian Coleman back for this show in Oklahoma….. the crew is sitting around with nothing to do for the first time in at least a month and Michael, Jesse, and I are hanging in the dressing room listening to the opening bands today. It’s nice to be sitting around with nothing to do… get a little work out in, play a little playstation, throw the football and enjoy the rumble of the kick drum in the distance. Interesting isn’t it?? There is nothing like waking up in your bunk to feel a kick drum through a massive PA. It’s hard to put a finger on it, but it really does hype you up for the show. There’s definitely something about the way the ground shakes backstage that really does get the blood flowing… and if that doesn’t do it, then you could try to work out with Michael for a while and that takes care of it!
Ok we’re all watching some super STUPID movie in our dressing room called….. “Kung Pow” it’s the only channel we get on the TV and my GOSH how do they get funding for this junk?? The good news is that it’s definitely something to laugh at and it also keeps your mind off of the wanna be work out stuff that you do in between Michael’s MANLY stuff!!! Oh hold up now we’re being told that we need to sound check a song from “Filter” tonight to get the crowd warmed up… hmmmm great idea we’ll scare the crowd to death!!!
I will say that I love headlining shows because you get to do nothing all day and really relax until show time. We’re going to play our old set tonight for the last time before we switch to the new set for the tour so it’ll be nice to put it to rest!! Just got a message that my mom and my cousin might drive up from Texas to see the show tonight, which would be cool too. Haven’t seen mom in a while. In other news, tonight they’re expecting around 10,000 for the show… and after driving through the campsites for a bit today I’m inclined to believe them… could be HUGE.
So after the show we’re going to roll to Little Rock, AR where I’m gonna hop off the bus with Mike and fly back to good ole NC to finish my vacation with the family. It’s been amazing out there the past few days. My phone always gets conveniently buried in the bottom of the beach bag and I miss calls all day… which has actually been amazingly cool. We don’t have internet at the house that we’re staying at either which totally keeps me undistracted… 100% kid and wife time. I’ve even been going to bed around 9:30 every night. I mean WHAT THE HECK… I never go to bed that early!!!!
One final thing… we have a new feature on our website called “From our Phones” which shows pictures of the day.. so keep checking in to see new pictures every hour or so!! Cool new way to keep up with what we’re doing!!!
Peace and love,
Jason

Good times! Me, I get to listen to my 14 year old play 'Monster' off the new Skillet cd repeatedly. The first 5 times or so, it makes me want to go for a run (it's in my Nike+ ipod running playlist) but after that...I want to BE the monster and rip her ipod off the dock! Lovely...now she's playing the drums to it too! My head may explode and I will never see one of your shows again. And that would be very sad.
